The goaltender joins the Minutemen after leaving the Odessa Jackalopes as the franchise leader in wins.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has added goaltender Alex Camarre to its freshman class for 2019-20, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Wednesday. Camarre joins the Minutemen following two seasons with the Odessa Jackalopes out of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) where he was the franchise leader in wins. He is the eighth member of UMass' incoming class, alongside forwards Jeremy Davidson, Eric Faith, Calen Kiefiuk, Reed Lebster and Peyton Reeves and defensemen Gianfranco Cassaro and Zac Jones.

"Alex is a smaller but very quick and agile goalie," said Carvel. "He is a smart goaltender who will add great depth at the position for us. His competitive spirit and character are assets you can never have enough of in college hockey."

Camarre, a native of North Tonawanda, New York, saw action in 68 regular season games over two seasons in Odessa and logged 29 wins with a 3.06 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. He played one season in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres and registered a 2.91 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage over 24 contests.
