| University of Massachusetts Women's Lacrosse Preview |
• The final road game of the regular-season at La Salle followed by a visit from longtime league rival Richmond are on tap this Friday and Sunday, respectively, for the UMass women's lacrosse team as the Atlantic 10 schedule enters the penultimate weekend.
• UMass is 20-1 all-time against La Salle and 20-9 all-time against the Richmond. The only loss to the Explorers happened in the regular-season finale of the 2010 season and would be the only A-10 loss the Minutewomen would have for the next 2,926 days setting an NCAA record of 61 consecutive conference wins. The series against the Spiders has been closer as the top two historic programs in the Atlantic 10. Richmond won the 2018 Atlantic 10 title which halted a league-record run of nine straight for the Minutewomen. Eight of the 29 all-time meetings between UMass and Richmond have come in the A-10 championship game.
• On the year, Kaitlyn Cerasi leads UMass with 59 points on 30 goals and 29 assists followed closely by sophomore Haley Connaughton who is posting a career-best 55 points with 26 goals and 29 assists. Kiley Anderson leads the Minutewomen in goals with 46 and ranks third with 53 points, while also being one of the top draw specialists in the country with a team-best 75 this season. The 2018 A-10 Midfielder of the Year, Stephanie Croke, leads that unit for the Minutewomen once again with 50 points (30 goals, 20 assists), 28 draw controls, 14 groundballs and nine caused turnovers on the year.
• Anderson's 196 career draw controls rank third all-time in UMass history, while her 142 goals are the 7th most. Anderson needs six more draw controls to pass former All-American Kelsey McGovern (201 DCs) for second all-time. Cerasi's 94 assists are the 5th-most in program history. Goalie Lauren Hiller's 35 wins are the third most for a career, while her 349 saves rank sixth overall.
• Nationally, the Minutewomen rank 3rd overall for scoring offense (17.57 goals/game), are 3rd in draw controls per game (18.36) and 3rd in points per game (26.29). Anderson ranks 10th in the NCAA for goals per game (3.83) and is 13th in total goals. Cerasi ranks 24th in total points and 17th in total assists for the year.
• One of the most winningest programs in NCAA women's lacrosse over the last nine years with 153 victories (including this year), UMass has reached the NCAA Tournament in nine of the previous 10 years with the Minutewomen reaching the second round in 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017. In 2016, UMass reached the quarterfinals for the first time since 1984. Â
• Since 2011, UMass is 74-5 at home between Garber Field and McGuirk Stadium as its home venues. Since moving back to Garber Field in 2016, the Minutewomen are 28-2 in the stadium with the two loses both coming from Boston College.
• In Atlantic 10 play, UMass is 68-1 since 2011. The 61 consecutive wins from the start of the 2011 league schedule until the loss to VCU in 2018 is an NCAA record.
