Minutemen in the Beanpot
Massachusetts has competed annually in the Beanpot since 1996 and captured the tournament crown six times (1996-98, 2000, 2008, 2012). Perhaps one of the most notable Beanpot pitching performances in program history came on April 22, 1997 when former Minuteman Scott Barnsby dealt a no-hitter at Fenway Park in the Semifinals against Northeastern. Barnsby's no-no was the first within the confines of the historic ballpark since 1965 and first such nine-inning performance by a UMass pitcher since 1957.

You Have Reached Your Destination
Redshirt freshman Collin Shapiro extended his reached base streak to all 20 contests in the Dayton series last weekend. This is the longest such streak since at least 1996 by a UMass player beginning their first year of competition. Senior Ryan Lever follows close behind at 19 straight games since UMass' win over Central Connecticut on March 2.

Videtto at First
After a brief two-way stint in the 2018 season, redshirt sophomore Anthony Videtto has held down first base as well as the cleanup spot in all 20 games this year. Videtto, a native of Kingston, Massachusetts, checks in with a .310 batting average, second on the team, in part on the strength off five doubles and nine RBI. He went 3-for-3 in the Dayton finale on March 31 with two walks, two runs scored and one more driven in.

Nine is Fine
Every player in the Massachusetts lineup, one through nine, contributed at least one hit in the Sun., March 10 win at UT Rio Grande Valley by a 14-11 score. As a team, the Maroon and White tallied a season-best 13 hits with four Minutemen contributing two in senior Logan Greene, junior Nolan Kessinger, redshirt freshman Collin Shapiro and redshirt sophomore Anthony Videtto. Despite finishing just 1-for-6 on the day, redshirt sophomore Connor Smith sparked the squad early with his first career grand slam, which gave the ball club an early 4-0 lead.

Lasko Tabbed Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week
For his efforts at Navy on Sat., March 2, senior Justin Lasko was named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week. The right-hander scattered five hits and struck out eight Midshipmen, three short of a career-high and lowering his ERA to 0.61. His outing capped a terrific doubleheader on the part of the UMass pitching staff, as Minuteman arms worked a total of 20 innings without surrendering a run.

On Deck
The Atlantic 10 schedule picks back up on Fri., April 5 as the Minutemen welcome Saint Louis to Earl Lorden Field for a three-game series. First pitch in the weekend lid-lifter is scheduled for 3 p.m.
