Polk, Boric Set To Compete In NCAA Zone A Diving Championship

The pair will open up competition with the 3-Meter Dive on Monday at noon before the 1-Meter on Tuesday.
AMHERST, Mass. – Katie Polk and Maja Boric of the University of Massachusetts women's diving team open up the NCAA Zone A Diving Championship on March 11-12 at Navy's Lejeune Hall in Annapolis, Md. on the 3-Meter board on Monday at noon. The 1-Meter Dive preliminary dives will begin on Tuesday at noon.

The 3-Meter Dive features 58 athletes while the 1-Meter Dive will have 66 participants with the top-18 divers advancing to the finals in each after the first six dives are tallied. The top-18 will dive six more times to determine their total 12-dive score.

Polk comes into the week as a three-time qualifier for the zone championships, qualifying for the finals in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter dives a season ago. The Atlantic 10 Championship Most Outstanding Diver picked up a pair of medals the last time out for the Minutewomen, winning the 3-Meter Dive with a score of 321.00 while finishing second in the 1-Meter with a mark of 286.40 as UMass went one-two in both dives of the championship.

Boric scored 291.40 on the 1-Meter board at the league championships to win gold before going on to take second in the 3-Meter Dive with a score of 320.30. The junior makes her second appearance at the zone championship, finishing fourth on both boards to earn a spot in the NCAA Division I Women's Championships in Columbus, Ohio.

The UMass duo claimed a combined nine golds in the 1-Meter and eight in the 3-Meter on the season.
