Hey Oh, Shapiro
Redshirt freshman Collin Shapiro went 2-for-4 against UAlbany on March 26 to extend his reached base streak to all 17 contests this season. This is the longest such streak since at least 1996 by a UMass player beginning their first year of competition and longest overall to begin any season since former Minuteman Tom Conley opened up the 2012 campaign reaching in 19 straight. Overall on the season, Shapiro's OBP sits at .442 which enters the weekend ranked 12th in the Atlantic 10.

Videtto at First
After a brief two-way stint in the 2018 season, redshirt sophomore Anthony Videtto has held down first base as well as the cleanup spot in all 17 games this year. Videtto, a native of Kingston, Massachusetts, checks in with a team-high .306 batting average in part on the strength off four doubles and eight RBI.

Nine is Fine
Every player in the Massachusetts lineup, one through nine, contributed at least one hit in the Sun., March 10 win at UT Rio Grande Valley by a 14-11 score. As a team, the Maroon and White tallied a season-best 13 hits with four Minutemen contributing two in senior Logan Greene, junior Nolan Kessinger, redshirt freshman Collin Shapiro and redshirt sophomore Anthony Videtto. Despite finishing just 1-for-6 on the day, redshirt sophomore Connor Smith sparked the squad early with his first career grand slam, which gave the ball club an early 4-0 lead.

Lasko Tabbed Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week
For his efforts at Navy on Sat., March 2, senior Justin Lasko was named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week. The right-hander scattered five hits and struck out eight Midshipmen, three short of a career-high and lowering his ERA to 0.61. His outing capped a terrific doubleheader on the part of the UMass pitching staff, as Minuteman arms worked a total of 20 innings without surrendering a run.

On Deck
The Minutemen begin the Baseball Beanpot with Opening Round action at Boston College on Tues., April 2. First pitch is at 3 p.m. from the Harrington Athletics Village.
