Dayton Takes Doubleheader From UMass Baseball
March 29, 2019 | Baseball
Series finale scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m.
DAYTON, Ohio – University of Massachusetts baseball was defeated by Dayton in both games of a doubleheader on Friday at DP&L Stadium. The sides were originally slated to play a single contest, adding the nightcap in anticipation of inclement weather throughout the weekend. Sunday's series finale has also been moved up to 11 a.m.
Â
Redshirt freshman Collin Shapiro had two hits on the afternoon to reach base for the 18th and 19th straight games, matching Tom Conley's 19-game run in 2012 as the longest by a Minuteman to open a season since that year.

In the sixth, UD extended its advantage to four on a three-run home run off the bat of Michael Cleary, before a wild pitch and a double pushed across two more in the eighth.
