The Need to Knows
• University of Massachusetts women's basketball concludes a quick two-game homestand on Thursday night as Ivy League foe Brown visits the Mullins Center for a 7 p.m. tilt. Colin Cronin and Ryan Beaton will have the call on ESPN+.

• UMass boasts a perfect 11-0 all-time record against their cross-New England rival, including a 4-0 mark in Amherst dating back to the first meeting of the sides, an 82-56 win for the Minutewomen on Feb. 5, 1977. Last season, the squad knocked off the Bears by a 90-61 score in Providence, Rhode Island.

• Massachusetts is looking for its third straight triumph after two season-opening losses. In victories last week at UMass Lowell (Nov. 14) and vs. Hartford (Nov. 17), senior Hailey Leidel averaged a team-best 18.5 points and freshman Angelique Ngalakulondi pulled down 8.5 rebounds per game. Ngalakulondi came off the bench to contribute a career-high 12 boards in the Hartford win last Sunday.

• The win over Hartford featured a 17-0 run to open the game, the largest for Massachusetts since at least the 1997-98 season. During that stretch a lockdown defensive effort left Hartford 0-of-9  from the field before the Hawks were limited to 1-of-12 in the entire second quarter.

• Leidel (1,408 points) now holds sole possession of eighth place on the UMass all-time scoring list and needs 58 points to tie Pam Rosanio (2004-08) for ninth with 1,466. She is also one of 17 players in program history with at least 1,000 points plus 500 rebounds.

• Massachusetts plays its final game before Thanksgiving on Mon., Nov. 25, traveling to St. John's for a 7 p.m. game in Queens, New York.
