Double OT Winner
Graham Brenner netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the 106th-minute as the Minutemen rallied back from down a goal to defeat Duquesne on the road last Saturday, 2-1. Brenner helped UMass tie things up with the equalizer in the 58th-minute with his fourth goal of the season before going on to net the second in the final overtime period off a free kick from Evan Fournier.
Stretch Run
The Minutemen are gearing up for the stretch run of the 2019 season as three Atlantic 10 contests remain on the schedule, featuring home games against Rhode Island and Saint Joseph's to round out the Rudd Field slate. UMass trails the eighth and final tournament qualifying spot by three points heading into the second to last week of action as La Salle and George Washington are tied for eighth with six points each. The Minutemen are in a four-way tie with three points that includes a Saint Joseph's squad that will come to Rudd Field on Nov. 2.
Freshman Feels
UMass started four freshman on Saturday in a win over Duquesne and five in Tuesday's overtime loss to No. 24-ranked Yale. Camden Blackburn got his first collegiate soccer action at home against Yale as he earned his first career start in the midfield while Benjamin Wiemann, Fournier, Ryan Levay and Quinn Serafino all earned starting nods. On the year, fellow freshman Logan Brown is tied for third-most points on the team while Levay, Serafino, Fournier and Harrison Tognela have all accumulated at least one point for the Minutemen.
Senior Day
Senior Day is approaching as UMass will honor its seniors prior to the regular season finale at Rudd Field on Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. against Saint Joseph's.
