Four Named To IWLCA All-Northeast Region Lacrosse Teams

Stephanie Croke, Holly Turner earn first team accolades.

AMHERST, Mass. - Four members of the UMass women's lacrosse team were honored Friday as members of the IWLCA All-Northeast Region teams as announced by the organization. Sophomore Stephanie Croke and senior Holly Turner were named to the first team, while seniors Hannah Burnett and Kasey Keane earned second team accolades.

As regional first team selections, Croke and Turner are now in contention to receive All-America status from the IWLCA.

One of the top offensive players in the league for second straight year, Burnett earns her second career honor as a member of the all-region squad after being named to the second team last year as well. The Huntington, N.Y., native led UMass in goals (61) and second in points (78) - a career-best total. She finished her UMass career ranked 5th all-time in goals (156) and eighth in points (197) while tying the single-game record for points (10) and setting the single-game mark for goals (8) during her time in Amherst. Her 78 points this year are the sixth-most for a single-season, while her 61 goals were the fourth most. Burnett has also been a two-time A-10 All-Academic selection and member of the All-Atlantic 10 squad during her UMass career.
 
Croke, a native of Norwell, Mass., had a breakout season as the Minutewomen's top midfielder with career-best numbers across the board. She was named the Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year earning All-Atlantic 10 First Team honors as well. The speedy two-way midfielder ranked fifth on the team in points (39), third in assists (23), and was second in groundballs (43), draw controls (34) and caused turnovers (24).
 
Keane was UMass' top individual defender who led the A-10 in groundballs (63) and ranked third in caused turnovers (42). The Westwood, Mass., native had a breakout season as a full-time starter – doubling all her previous career-high totals for caused turnovers and groundballs for a season. Her 42 caused turnovers are the second most for a single-season in program history, while her 63 groundballs are the fourth best total. She finished her career for the Minutewomen with 67 caused turnovers which is tied for 10th-best all-time.
 
Turner led the A-10 in points (93), assists (51) and finished the year with 42 goals. One of the top all-time players in UMass history, the Pittsford, N.Y., native ranks second for career points (280), is seventh for goals (137) and holds the program record for assists (143). The senior posted a career-best 51 assists this year was also an All-Atlantic 10 First Team pick. Defensively, Turner increased her productivity on the ride as well with career-best numbers for caused turnovers (22) and groundballs (40). Overall, this marked the second consecutive year Turner was honored to the all-region first-team.
 
UMass concluded the season with a 14-5 overall record after going 8-1 in league play to earn a share of the regular-season title.
