AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has added Brad Arvanitis, a 6-2, 175-pound goaltender, to its recruiting class for 2017-18, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Wednesday. Arvanitis, a native of Holliston, Massachusetts, joins forwards Mitchell Chaffee, Oliver Chau, Jake Gaudet, Phillip Lagunov, John Leonard and George Mika, defensemen Mario Ferraro and Cale Makar and goaltender Matthew Murray as the 10th member of the Minutemen's Class of 2021.

"Brad Arvanitis is a Massachusetts kid who had an excellent year of junior hockey in the NAHL and his addition will give us great depth at the goaltending position," said Carvel. "He is a big athletic goaltender who we expect will take another big step forward once he begins stopping pucks at this level and working with our assistant coach Jared DeMichiel. Brad will also be a tremendous addition to our locker room as he is a focused and committed young man who will also excel in the classroom. It's always great to add Massachusetts players to our roster."

Arvanitis saw action in 22 games during the 2016-17 regular season with the Coulee Region Chill of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). He posted a 11-10 record over those contests and totaled 775 saves for a .919 save percentage and a 3.25 goals-against average over 1,254 minutes in net. In three playoff games, he made 144 saves for a .935 save percentage and posted a 3.93 GAA.

Prior to joining the Chill, Arvanitis spent the 2015-16 campaign with the Walpole Express of the Eastern Hockey League (EHL Elite) where he registered a 2.81 GAA and a .924 save percentage over 24 regular season games. He played for Holliston High School from 2012-15 and served as a team captain in 2014-15.
