Women's Lax Looks to Win Ninth Straight A-10 Title

Minutewomen open A-10 Championship play on Friday afternoon seeking NCAA berth.
AMHERST, Mass. - In search of its ninth straight Atlantic 10 title, the UMass women's lacrosse team will be tournament play on Friday afternoon (1 p.m.) as the top-seed in this year's league championship tournament. The Minutewomen (14-3, 9-0 A-10) will face the winner of Thursday's quarterfinal match-up between fifth-seed Davidson and fourth-seed George Mason.
The Atlantic 10 Championship will be hosted by Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia. All games from Sweeney Field will be streamed online for free. The quarterfinal round will take place on Thursday afternoon followed by Friday's semifinal round. The championship match is slated for Sunday at Noon.
UMass completed the regular-season unbeaten in A-10 play extending its NCAA record to 54 consecutive league wins dating back to 2011. The Minutewomen have won the last eight Atlantic 10 titles - a league record - and nine championships overall.
The Minutewomen picked up four major league awards on Wednesday. Hannah Murphy was named the league's Midfielder of the Year for the third straight season, while Holly Turner and Sarah Crowley were named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. Head Coach Angela McMahon was named the league's Coach of the Year for the sixth time in seven years.

2017 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship:
The University of Massachusetts and Gillette Stadium will host the 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship weekend on Friday, May 26 and Sunday, May 28. The women's championship weekend will be hosted in conjunction with the Divisions I, II, and III men's championships.
