Hockey's Lazarus Named to USA Roster for World Maccabiah Games

PHILADELPHIA – University of Massachusetts hockey freshman forward Jonny Lazarus has been selected to the Maccabi USA open men's ice hockey team for the 20th World Maccabiah Games, Maccabi USA announced on Monday. Lazarus will be among the squad that will compete July 4-18, 2017 in Israel, joining 8,750 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports.
In his rookie season with the Minutemen, Lazarus appeared in 28 games and logged nine points on five goals and four assists, good for second among the freshman class. The Syosset, New York native registered the game-winning goal on the power play in his collegiate debut against Colorado College and finished the year with two multi-point games.
