Men’s Swimming And Diving Edges Past Boston University, 154-144

The 200 Free Relay team took the win in the winner-take-all final event on the afternoon.

AMHERST, Mass. University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving team posted a time of 1:23.43 in the final event, the winner-take-all 200 Free Relay, to defeat Boston University 154-144 on Saturday afternoon at Rogers Pool. The Minutemen led by one point at 141-140 heading into the final event on a day where they won both the opening and final relay races.
 
Ryan Pedrick, Michael Tartakovsky, Kyle Stefanides and Owen Wright put together the winning swim in the final race to pick up 11 points and seal the win while Massachusetts also took third in the race.
 
Wright and Stefanides along with Oliver Wyeth and Luke Gordon opened up the meet with a winning swim of 1:32.67 in the 200 Medley Relay.
 
Wyeth went on to win the 100 Backstroke for the Minutemen later in the meet, posting the fastest time of 50.94 while Stefanides finished as the runner-up with a time of 51.07.
 
Gordon added an individual win of his own, this in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 57.66.
 
UMass picked up a duo of key wins individual events, beginning with Wright's winning swim of 20.65 in the 50 Free while Ryan Pedrick and Tartakovsky rounded out the top-three in second and third. CJ Patterson and Stefanides gave UMass a 133-129 lead by going one-two in the 100 Fly before Chris DiGiacomo and Wyeth finished second and third in the 200 IM to bring the score to 141-140 in favor of UMass.
 
Trent Kindvall took the top spot in the 3-Meter Dive with a score of 292.42 while Reece Donahue finished second with 281.40 before going on to finish second in the 1-Meter dive with a score of 265.72.
 
The Minutemen will be back in action on Nov. 17 as they take part in both the Terrier Invitational in Boston, Mass. and the Frank Elm Diving Invitational in Piscataway, N.J.
