Minutemen Break Four Pool Records, Swim By Fordham 211-87

Owen Wright, Oliver Wyeth and Chris DiGiacomo all set new Rogers Pool marks on Senior Day.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving team broke four Rogers Pool records on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Fordham 211-87 on Senior Day. The Minutemen picked up 14 total wins on the day in their final meet before the Atlantic 10 Championships.
Owen Wright broke two pool records, beginning with a pool record time of 20.42 in the 50 Free to break a nearly 19-year old record in the event. Wright followed with another pool record in his final home meet as he posted a time 44.92. Teammate Ryan Pedrick finished third in both events to round out the top-three finishers.
Oliver Wyeth broke the third pool record on the day for the Minutemen with a time of 4:33.14 in the 500 Free as UMass swept the top-three spots in the event as Panagiotis Androulidakis came in second and Tyler Pidde rounded out the top-three in third place. Wyeth also won the 100 Back with a time of 50.43 while Kyle Stefanides finished right behind him in second place with a time of 50.95.
Wyeth and Wright combined with Al Madden and Stefanides to win the 200 Medley Relay to open up the day with a top time of 1:32.47.
Chris DiGiacomo broke the fourth and final pool record for UMass as the senior posted a new pool record time of 1:50.47 in the 200 IM while Anthony Rizzo finished in third. DiGiacomo won three total events on the afternoon, taking first in the 200 Free with a time of 1:42.52 before going on to win the 200 Back with a time of 1:52.38 while Seamus Trzewik-Quinn finished second with a time of 1:52.75.
Luther Gordon won a pair of breaststroke events as he set the pace with a time of 56.99 in the 100 Breaststroke while Ben Gryski rounded out the top-three before finishing as the runner-up in the 200 Breaststroke while Gordon once again posted the top time.
UMass swept the top-three spots in the 200 Fly as Casey Ransford posted the top swim of 1:52.99 while Jason Rosen and Anthony Rizzo finished second and third respectively.
Harry Ortof added a win for the Minutemen in the 1,000 Free with a top time of 9:40.70 while Chase Kent finished third and Austen Sholudko came in fourth.
Trent Kindvall won both diving events for the Minutemen, beginning with a score of 344.42 in the 1-Meter Dive before going on to win the 3-Meter Dive later in the day with a score of 337.80. Kindvall's mark in the 1-Meter Dive narrowly missed tying the pool record by .08 points. Reece Donahue finished in second in both events, capping off his day with a score of 299.93 in the 3-Meter Dive.
The Minutemen will be off for a week before they begin competition at the A-10 Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 14 in Geneva, Ohio.
