Minutewomen Finish Second Day At Terrier Invitational In Fifth-Place

Kelly Malyszka finished in second in the 400 IM while the UMass relay teams added two third-place finishes.
BOSTON, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team sits in fifth-place after completing day two of competition at the Terrier Invitational at Boston University's Competition Pool on Saturday with the preliminary events in the morning with the finals in the evening. The Minutewomen posted two top-three finishes in the relay events while recording four top-three finishes in individual races.

Kelly Malyszka continued her strong showing at the Terrier Invitational, beginning the day by finishing second in the 400 IM prelim round before winning the event in the evening with a swim of 4:24.41. On Friday, Malyszka posted a runner-up swim in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.50 while she finished third in the 500 Free with a time of 4:59.44.

Malyszka helped one UMass relay team to a top-three finish as the Minutewomen took third in the 200 Free Relay in an event that featured Sydnee Aubin, Paige Mitchell and Mariam Labib. Labib was a part of another third-place relay finish, this with Dasha Egkorova, Rachel Grant and Ansley Baker as the put together a time of 1:44.72 in the 200 Medley Relay.

Ansley Baker won the 50 Free on Friday night with a swim of 23.78 while coming in third in the 100 Breaststroke today with a time of 1:04.39.

Grant and Egkorova put together solid performances in their individual races as Grant came in third in the 100 Fly with a time of 56.65 while Egkorova recorded a time of 55.18 to finish second in the 100 Back with a time that was 1.5 seconds faster than her prelim swim.

Stephanie Judge qualified for the finals in the 100 Fly by finishing in eighth in the preliminary race before taking seventh in the final heat.

At the Frank Elm Invitational, the Minutewomen divers grabbed a pair of top-10 finishes and a win in the 1-Meter Dive as Emma Roush posted the top score of 311.30 in the event on Friday while Katie Polk came in seventh. Roush went on to finish in fourth in the 3-Meter Dive on Saturday afternoon with a score of 287.75. Maja Boric scored 254.60 on her way to finishing seventh.

The Terrier Invitational with wrap up tomorrow with three sessions, beginning with the 200 Back prelims in the morning at 10 a.m. before moving to the finals at 5 p.m.
