Minutewomen Open Up Atlantic 10 Slate At Rhode Island

UMass will open up their Atlantic 10 schedule with a meet at Rhode Island on Tuesday at noon.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team will return to the pool after nearly a two-month hiatus as they are set to open up their Atlantic 10 schedule on the road at Rhode Island tomorrow at noon in the Tootell Aquatics Center.

The Minutewomen head into their first league meet after last wrapping up competition at the Terrier Invitational with a win in the 400 Free Relay to conclude the weekend as Ansley Baker, Mariam Labib, Chelsea Meiring and Hayley Masi posted the top time of 3:27.10. In their last dual meet against Boston University at home, Baker broke a four-year Rogers Pool record in the 100 Free with a time of 51.27 on her way to earning the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honor. Emma Roush led the way for the divers last time out at the Frank Elm Diving Invitational as she scored 311.30 to take first in the 1-Meter Dive before finishing fourth in the 3-Meter dive on the final day of diving competition.

UMass defeated URI 176-119 in their last meeting in 2017 at the Joseph R. Rogers Pool behind 12 first-place finishes led by multi-event winners Ansley Baker, Maja Boric and Olga Egkorova. Baker posted the top swims in the 50 Free and 100 Breast while Boric swept both dives and Egkorova won the 200 and 500 Freestyle races. Masi added a win in the 100 Free while Rachel Grant and Maddie Biron took first in the 100 Fly and 100 Back respectively.

The Minutewomen will return to the pool again this weekend as they head to Hanover, N.H. for the Dartmouth Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
