UMass Completes Day One Of Competition at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving team wrapped up day one of competition on Friday at the Terrier Invitational at Boston University's Competition Pool. Owen Wright clocked in the fastest time of the afternoon in the 50 Free preliminary race while the UMass relay teams added a win and a runner-up finish.

Wright and Ryan Pedrick claimed the top two spots in the 50 Freestyle preliminary rounds as Wright put in a top swim of 20.65 while Pedrick swam a 20.93 and Michael Tartakovsky rounded out the top five in fifth.

The relay teams had a strong showing for the Minutemen as the 200 Free Relay team won the event with a time of 1:23.43 before going on to finish as the runner-up in the 400 Medley Relay shortly after.

UMass grabbed four top-10 finishes in the 500 Free as Oliver Wyeth paced the Minutemen in seventh while Harry Ortof, Panagiotis Androuladkis and Chase Kent rounded out the top-10.

Chris DiGiacomo advanced to the finals of the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.55, finishing fourth while Wyeth came in 13^th.

The divers were on the road at the Frank Elm Invitational for preliminary round action today with the 3-Meter Dive. Trent Kindvall qualified for the finals with a score of 267.45, finishing in eighth place on the day as Reece Donahue qualified by rounding out the top-10.

The Minutemen will remain in action tomorrow at the Terrier Invitational beginning at 10 a.m. while the divers will continue competition at the Frank Elm Invitational.
