Both the men's and women's teams have competed in two events this season, opening up the year at the Justin Jennings Memorial Invitational at Colgate before taking on Army on the road.
The UMass women's divers have had early success as Emma Roush has won both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter dives at both events while teammate Katie Polk took second in both at Colgate and finishing as the runner-up in the 1-Meter Dive at Army. In swimming events, freshman Kelly Malyzska heads into her third career collegiate meet after winning both the 500 and 1000 Free against Army after posting three first-place finishes at Colgate.
The Minutewomen played host for three events in their home pool last season, picking up two wins with a 186-106 win over Bryant before defeating Rhode Island just three days later 176-119 in the final home meet of the year. UMass used 12 first-place finishes against Bryant, led by multiple wins from Ansley Baker, Maja Boric and Olga Egkorova on their way to the win on Jan. 14. The Minutewomen returned to the pool days later against Rhode Island as the trio went on to win two events each while Hayley Masi and Rachel Grant each added an event win.
Owen Wright was named the A-10 Men's Performer of the Week after his performance at Colgate in the first meet of the season in which he won the 50 Free and 100 IM while posting runner-up finishes in the 100 and 200 Free. Wright also took the top spot in the 50 Free against Army with a time of 20.85 in the event while teammate Chris DiGiacomo set the pace in the 200 Back with a winning swim of 1:52.15.
