Men's Soccer Plays Host to Brown Saturday Afternoon

Minutemen and Bears set for 4 p.m. kickoff at Rudd Field.

AMHERST, Massachusetts - The UMass men's soccer team hosts its second home match of the week on Saturday, Sept. 17 as Brown visits Rudd Field for a 4 p.m. kickoff. The match is free to attend and will be streamed live on the UMass/Atlantic 10 Digital Network.

For fans attending the game, please note campus will be utilize our football gameday parking protocols. Fans are asked to park in Lot 33 which is just a short walk away from Rudd Field. For complete traffic flow information and available parking lots, please click here.

UMass (0-5-1) is coming off a tough 2-1 loss to Albany on Tuesday afternoon. Ty Gonsalves put the Minutemen up 1-0 early in the first half, but the Great Danes were able to tie the match in the second half and then found the gamewinner in the 90th minute.

Gonsalves became the fourth Minuteman to score a goal this season joining Alex DeSantis, Brandon Merklin and Samuel Asamoah. DeSantis continues to lead UMass with four points adding a team-best two assist to his goal.

Keeper Jorge Becerra has started all six matches this year and is posting a 2.25 goals-against-average and a 0.696 save percentage.

Saturday's match will also be the 60th career outing for centerback Josh Jess who should eclipse the 4,000 minute mark. He leads the active players in games played and minutes as he enters the match with 3,946 dating back to 2013.

Brown is 3-1 on the year after dropping its first road contest of the season on Wednesday night at UMass Lowell, 2-1. Nate Pomeroy leads the club with a pair of goals and an assist. Nico Lozada is tied with Pomeroy for the points lead with five highlighted by a team-best three assists. Erik Hanson has started all four matches with a 0.74 goals-against-average and a 0.750 save percentage. 

The Minutemen will head back on the road next week for matches at Vermont on Wednesday, Sept. 21 (7 p.m.) and at Hartford on Saturday, Sept. 24 (7 p.m.).
