Men's Lax Celebrates Four-Member Class of 2016

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse fielded a small senior group this season with its four-member Class of 2016: Bob Fahey, Kurt Hunziker, Kyle Karaska and Kevin Porzelt.
Fahey, a sport management major, played three seasons as a starter on close defense and finished his career with 50 games played, including 41 started. Fahey scooped up 42 groundballs and caused 30 turnovers during his tenure. In 2016 he set a personal best with 14 groundballs and tied his single-season high with 11 caused turnovers.
Hunziker developed into a formidable short-stick defensive midfielder during the last two seasons with 30 groundballs and 12 caused turnovers over 28 appearances in 2015 and 2016. The Topsfield, Massachusetts, native added five points via two goals and three assists while he also had a groundball and caused turnover in 2013 during his first year with the team. He is a building and construction technology major.
Karaska made his first appearance as an injury replacement during the second game of his freshman season in 2013. By the third contest he was a starter on close defense, a position he never relinquished over a 55-game career. Karaska earned three All-CAA honors, including first team nods in 2015 and 2016. The Groton, Massachusetts, native also won NEILA All-Region as a junior and was a Senior CLASS Award nominee in 2016. Karaska earned his degree in building and construction technology. He will move to Las Vegas, Nevada, following graduation for a job with Trilogy Medical Partners.
Porzelt, who also started on close defense with Fahey and Karaska, will graduate with a Bachelor's of Business Administration degree in Finance. Porzelt had a career year in 2016 with 33 groundballs and 16 caused turnovers, both single-season bests. He finished his four-year career with 49 groundballs and 24 caused turnovers.
