Women’s Swimming Third After Day Two of Terrier Invitational

Minutewomen score big points in 400 IM and 100 breast events on Saturday.
BOSTON – On the strength of several key performances, particularly in the 400 individual medley and the 100 breast, the UMass women's swimming and diving team stands in third place after day two of the Terrier Invitational.
The three-day invite featuring eight teams will wrap up on Sunday afternoon at the Boston University Competition Pool with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and finals slated for 5 p.m.
UMass scored a total of 97.5 points on the day between the 400 IM and the 100 breast. The Minutewomen placed three in the top 10 in the 400 IM for a total of 44 points and had four in the top 10 in the 100 breast.
Meriza Werenski placed second in the 400 IM (4:24.66) and she was followed by Jenn Robeson in sixth and Jenna Diamond in ninth.
Chelsea Meiring became the fifth-fastest performer in the 100 breast touching in 1:04.58 for second place. Ansley Baker was just behind for third, while Sydney Connor took fifth and Emily Anderson placed 10th.
UMass also took second and fourth in the 100 back with Maddie Biron turning in the fourth fastest time in the program history (56.91) for second place. Dasha Egkorova was two spots behind for fourth.
Rachel Grant rounded out the individual highlights with a fourth-place finish in the 100 fly.
In the relay events, the Minutewomen took fifth in the 200 medley relay and fourth in the 800 free.
