Minutewomen close out fall portion of schedule this weekend at annually competitive three-day meet.
AMHERST, Mass. - The fall schedule comes to a close this weekend as the UMass men's and women's swimming teams will close out the fall portion of the schedule at the Terrier Invitational. The three-day event will begin on Firday, Nov. 18 and conclude on Sunday, Nov. 20. Preliminary races will begin at 10 a.m. with finals slated to start at 6 p.m. each night. Both teams have been off since a tri-meet at Brown against the Bears and Yale two weeks ago. The Minutewomen took second at the Colgate Invitational before falling in dual meets against Army and at Boston University.
The women's team has shown strong depth with 19 top-10 performances across all events this season. Of those, freshman Maja Boric holds the top score in the three-meter dive for the conference and has qualified on both boards for the NCAA Zone Meet. Senior Meriza Werenski has six first-place finishes in the individual medley, free style and breast events, while sophomore Ansley Baker is just behind with five first place finishes.
Following the Terrier Invitational, the divers will compete at the Bucknell Invitational to close out their schedule before the semester break. Both the swimmers and divers will resume competition in January when the swimmers host Bryant on Jan. 14 and the divers head to the Buffalo Diving Invitational the same weekend.
