Women's Swimming Tied for 3rd after Day One of Terrier Invite

Olga Egkorova becomes second fastest performer in school history in 500 free.
BOSTON, Mass. – At the end of day one, the UMass men's swimming team stands fourth while the women's team is tied for third at the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University.

Day two of the three day meet will begin Saturday morning with preliminary races at 10 a.m. and finals set to begin at 6 p.m.

On the women's side, Olga Egkorova became the second fastest performer in school history in the 500 free taking sixth in 4 minutes, 57.95 seconds.

Meriza Werenski shaved four seconds off her previous best time this season taking second in the 200 individual medley (2:04.37).

Rounding out the top performances was a 10th place finish in the 500 free by Steph Campo, a 10th place finish in the 50 free by Ansley Baker and a fourth-place finish for the 400 medley relay team.

The men had a trio of personal-best times on the day. Panos Androulidakis swam a time of 4:36.69 in the prelims of the 500 free before taking eighth in the finals. Just behind him, Austen Sholudko had a personal-best with a time of 4:36.72 to place 10th overall.

In the 50 free, Ryan Pedrick swam 20.95 seconds for a personal best and the second-fast time on the team this season.

Kyle Stefanides narrowly missed a PR in the 200 IM with a time of 1:52.00 in the prelims – just 0.33 seconds off his best time in the event. He touched in 1:55.03 in the finals to take seventh overall.

Pedrick and Stefanides teamed up with Owen Wright and Kellen Gray to take fourth in the 200 free relay to start the evening.
