Minutemen close out non-conference slate against Blue Devils.

AMHERST, Massachusetts - Coming off a draw against Dayton to start Atlantic 10 play on Saturday, the UMass men's soccer team returns to Rudd Field on Tuesday, Oct. 4 to close out its non-conference schedule against Central Connecticut State. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. and the game will be streamed online via the UMass/Atlantic 10 Digital Network. Admission and parking are both free.

The Minutemen (2-6-2) have been riding a recent streak of momentum with a 2-1-1 record over the last four matches including last Saturday's 0-0 draw against the league's defending champion Dayton.

The shutout against the Flyers marked the second of the season for goalkeeper Jorge Becerra and the defense with two of those coming in the last four games.

The scoreless game for the offense snapped a seven-game streak with at least a goal and just the third time the Minutemen were held off the scoreboard this year.

Alex DeSantis continues to lead the Minutemen with eight points on two goals and four assists. Henry Steinkamp and Ty Goncalves are just behind with four points. Steinkamp has a goal and two assists, while Goncalves has two goals.

With the shuout, Becerra dropped his goals-against-average to 1.81 for the year with a 0.721 save percentage.

Central Connecticut State (1-6-2) has lost three of its last four and is coming off back-to-back 2-0 losses to Saint Joseph's and Hartford. The Blue Devils are led by Daquan King who has four points on a pair of goals. Ryan Taylor is just behind with a goal and an assist, while three other players have a goal. CCSU has played both goalkeepers during the season with Nick Velleca starting eight of their nine matches posting a 1.72 goals-against-average and a 0.655 save percentage.

Following Tuesday's tilt, the Minutemen will return to action this Sunday, Oct. 9 at Fordham for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
