Saturday's match will be Alumni Weekend for the Minutemen.

AMHERST, Mass. - With a five-match unbeaten streak on the line, the UMass men's soccer team will head on the road to face longtime New England rival Rhode Island on Wednesday (7 p.m.) before returning home to host VCU at Rudd Field on Saturday (1 p.m.). The match against VCU will also be Alumni Weekend for the men's and women's programs with special events scheduled on both Saturday and Sunday.

Both matches will be streamed on the Atlantic 10 Digitial Network with live stats available as well. Admission on Saturday at Rudd Field is free to all.

UMass (4-6-3, 1-0-2 A-10) is coming off a win over St. Bonaventure last Wednesday and a draw on the road at Davidson. UMass downed the Bonnies 1-0 on the strength of a Kevin Boino goal, while Ty Goncalves converted a late penalty kick to help the Minutemen come away with a point against the Wildcats.

The Minutemen currently sit eighth in the league standings with five points but have one game fewer played following the Fordham postponement. VCU (4-6-3, 2-1-1 A-10) is in a four-way tied for fourth with seven points, while URI (4-9-1, 1-3-0 A-10) is tied for 11th with three points.

Alex DeSantis continues to lead UMass in overall points with eight on two goals and four assists. Ty Goncalves now has the team lead in goals with three and is tied with Henry Steinkamp for second in overall points with seven. With Boino's goal against St. Bonaventure, 10 different Minutemen have now tallied goals on the year.

Defensively, UMass has found its groove, surrendering just one goal in the last four outings. Until the Davidson goal, the Minutemen and keeper Jorge Becerra had pitched three straight shutouts. For the year, Becerra now has a 1.46 goals-against-average and a 0.753 save percentage as the keeper of record.

Overall, it's been a key stretch for the Minutemen who have posted a 4-1-2 mark in the last seven outings as the regular-season begins to wind down.

Rhody has lost three straight and eight of its last nine. The Rams are led by Stavros Zarokostas who has 11 points on four goals and three assists. Ryan Bailey and Niklas Middrup each have two goals as well. In goal, Nils Leifhelm has started 12 of 13 matches with a 1.41 GAA and a 0.712 save percentage.

VCU is 2-1-1 to start league play but is coming off an overtime road loss at Duquesne last Saturday. The Rams are led by Jorge Herranz who has 14 points on four goals and six assists. Luc Fatton is the team-leader in goals with five, while Rafael Santos has three goals and two assists. Defensively, Pierre Gardan is the keeper of record with a 1.47 GAA and a 0.688 save percentage.
