Men's Soccer Heads to Davidson for Saturday Evening Match

Minutemen looking to extend unbeaten streak to five games.
AMHERST, Mass. - Following its 1-0 win over St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, the UMass men's soccer team takes to the road to play at Davidson on Saturday night (6 p.m.) in North Carolina. The Minutemen are currently on a four-game unbeaten streak with three consecutive shutouts. That stretch has helped produce a 4-1-1 mark for UMass over the last six contests.
Saturday's match-up will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network for fans to follow the action.
In the win over the Bonnies, it was Kevin Boino who scored the game-winning goal midway through the second half. Jorge Becerra earned his fourth shutout of the season and has not given up a goal since Sept. 24 at Hartford.
Boino became the 10th Minuteman to score a goal this year. Overall, Alex DeSantis leads the program with eight points on two goals and a team-high four assists. Henry Steinkamp is just behind with two goals and three assists, while Ty Goncalves shares the team lead with two goals.
Becerra is the keeper of record for UMass with a 1.52 goals-against-average and a 0.756 save percentage to sport a 4-6-2 overall record.
Davidson is led by Maxi Pragnell who has six goals and two assists for 14 points. He is followed by Christian Fechter who has 10 points on three goals and an assist.
Andrew Kenneson has started every match of the season for the Wildcats posting a 1.99 goals-against-average with a 0.724 save percentage.
After a 1-8-0 stretch to start the season, the Wildcats have found momentum of late as well following a road win at Duke and a road win at Saint Joseph's for a 2-1-0 record over the last two weeks.
Following the trip to Davidson, UMass will return to New England to face long-time rival Rhode Island in Kingston on Wednesday night followed by a home match at Rudd Field on Saturday, Oct. 22 against VCU. The VCU game will be the program's Alumni Weekend in conjunction with the women's program as well.
