St. Bonaventure Visits Men's Soccer Wednesday Afternoon

Minutemen and Bonnies set for 4 p.m. kickoff at Rudd Field.

AMHERST, Mass. - Following a postponement of the Fordham match, the UMass men's soccer team returns to action after now a week between games to return to Atlantic 10 play when St. Bonaventure visits Rudd Field on Wednesday afternoon. The match is slated for a 4 p.m. kickoff and will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digitial Network. Admission and parking are free to all.

The Minutemen have posted a 3-1-1 record in their last five matches to improve to 3-6-2 overall and 0-0-1 in league play. The Minutemen opened the A-10 slate with a 0-0 draw against Dayton before closing out the non-conference schedule with a 1-0 win over Central Connecticut last Tuesday at Rudd Field. The Minutemen have pitched three shutouts over the five game stretch.

Alex DeSantisTy Goncalves and Henry Steinkamp are tied for the UMass lead in goals scored with two each. Overall, nine different Minutemen have tallied goals this season. DeSantis also has a team-best four assists and eight total points followed by Steinkamp who has six points this season.

Keeper Jorge Becerra is the owner of the three shutouts this season and sports a 1.65 goals-against-average and a 0.732 save percentage through 11 starts.

St. Bonaventure is 2-8-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the A-10 this year. Kieran Toland is the Bonnies leading scorer with four goals and eight points in 11 matches. Jacob Dyck is the only other player with multiple goals with two. Luke Iacobellis has started eight of 12 matches in goal with a 2.24 goals-against-average and a 0.716 save percentage for a 1-5-2 record. Alex Olday started four matches back in September with a 1.27 GAA, a 0.783 save percentage and a 1-3-0 record.

The first half will be key on Wednesday as the Bonnies have been outscored 10-to-2 in the opening stanza this season. Conversely, UMass has outscored its opposition 7-to-6 in the first half.

UMass will next head out on the road to Davidson (Oct. 15) and Rhode Island (Oct. 19) to continue A-10 play.
