NEWTON, Mass. - University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse senior midfielder Andrew Sokol took home New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Academic All-Region Thursday, as announced by the organization. It marks Sokol's second scholastic honor of 2015, including his spot on the six-man CAA All-Academic Team.

The Newburyport, Massachusetts, native recorded career highs in points (25), goals (17) and assists (eight) during his senior campaign. He finished his four years as a member of the Maroon and White with 52 points via 34 goals and 18 assists. Sokol majored in finance at the University of Massachusetts with a minor in economics.

In order to be selected for this team, student-athletes must be in their final year of eligibility, have posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and be a significant enough contributor on the field that they were nominated for conference or regional recognition. Sokol is one of only 17 men's lacrosse NCAA Division I student-athletes from across New England to earn the honor in 2015.
