Scouting Delaware Men's Lacrosse
Delaware started the year three wins over its opening six games but faltered down the stretch and dropped seven of its last eight for a 4-10 mark entering play against the Minutemen. The Blue Hens are 0-4 during league games, including a pair of overtime losses to Drexel, 9-8, and Fairfield in double OT, 12-11 in their latest contests.

Beau Jones, Brian Kormondy and Tom Holland have all reached 30 points on the current season. Jones leads the trio with 37 points via 17 goals and 20 assists, the third-most helpers in the CAA. Kormondy trails Jones by two points with a 21 goals and 14 assists while Holland adds a team-high 26 tallies with four assists. Brett Anton starts in the cage and holds a 9.58 goals-against average with a .532 save percentage. Anton is 4-7 on the year after he supplanted Conor Peaks in net early in the season. Peaks is 0-3 on the year with a 15.10 goals-against mark and .427 save percentage.

Bob Shillinglaw is in his 37th year as head coach of the Delaware Blue Hens. Shillinglaw took the squad to the 2007 Final Four among six berths into the NCAA Tournament. The squad is 297-285 under Shillinglaw's guidance but has struggled since joining the CAA in 2003 and is 28-49 (.364 win percentage) in league games.

Last Meeting: Delaware 15, Massachusetts 7; April 25, 2014
Nick Mariano scored three goals and Connor Mooney provided two more, but the UMass was unable to overcome a strong start by Delaware in a 15-7 loss to the Blue Hens. Mariano finished the game with five points courtesy of two assists to go with his fifth career hat trick. Mooney also helped out on a pair of goals.

Delaware loss dropped Massachusetts to 7-6 on the season and 1-4 in CAA games to end the 2014 campaign. Mooney finished his career at UMass with 99 points, including a single-season personal-best of 38 during the 2014 campaign. Mariano led the squad in the category on the season with 39 through a team-best 29 goals to go with 10 assists.

Delaware started the game with six consecutive goals and led 7-1 midway through the second half before three straight UMass tallies cut it to 7-4 approaching halftime. After the Blue Hens scored twice and UMass answered with two more of its own, Delaware put the game out of reach with a four-goal run that spanned into the fourth quarter.

Izzo Collects 100th Career Groundball
Ryan Izzo picked up his 100th career groundball during the game at No. 18 Towson on Saturday, March 28. Izzo, who is a mainstay on the faceoff unit as well as a part of the clear and ride personnel in addition to his work on defense, set a career high with 52 in 2013 after he had six in his first year of competition. The Walpole, Mass., native added 25 in 2014 and has 28 more through 12 games of his final year.

He is the active leader at UMass for career groundballs (111) and caused turnovers, which he has 32 of.

Cannella Reaches 300 Games As UMass Head Coach
UMass men's lacrosse head coach Greg Cannella is in his 21st season as the program leader with 300 games guiding the Minutemen to his ledger. Cannella is 182-118 in those contest (60.7 win percentage). He coached his 300th game at the helm of the program on April 18 versus Drexel, a 12-9 Minuteman victory.

Muller's Strong Return From Injury
Dan Muller returned from a year-long absence due to a knee injury vs. Army. It marked his first appearance in the Maroon and White since May 1, 2013 at Penn State during the CAA Tournament semifinals. Muller had seven points on six goals and an assist as a freshman in 2013. He scored his first points of 2015 at No. 5 North Carolina when he had two on a goal and assist.

Through 12 games played in the midfield, Muller owns 21 points via 13 goals and eight assists. He has multiple points in eight of the previous 11 contests after he was held scoreless versus the Black Knights. He is tied for the third-most points among Minutemen with Gianni Bianchin and Brendan Hegarty.

The Small Set Of Senior
The 2015 senior class of short-stick defensive midfielder Ryan Izzo, midfielder Chas Robino, short-stick defensive midfielder Brendan Schroeder, midfielder Andrew Sokol, close defenseman Peter Von Rosenvinge and attackman Grant Whiteway is one of the smallest in the nation. Of all men's lacrosse programs in at least their fourth season of NCAA Division I competition, the six-member senior class at UMass ranks tied as the ninth-smallest.

An Unselfish Approach To Offense
UMass leads the CAA in assists per game through contests on Saturday, April 18 as the Minutemen have 86 for an average of 7.17 per game. Fairfield is second at 5.69 per game (74 in 13 contests). The Minutemen were second in the league in assists per game during the 2013 and 2014 seasons after they led the conference in the category during 2012.

It is the 14th-best per game mark in the NCAA Division I as of games played on Tuesday, April 22.

Mariano Nears 75 Points, 50 Goals At UMass
Sophomore attackman Nick Mariano is one point shy of 75 for his career and one goal short of 50 with the Minutemen through 25 collegiate games played.

If Mariano reaches 50 goals before the end of his sophomore season he will be the first Minuteman to do so since Jim Connolly (2006-07, `09) scored 51 over his first two years with 22 as a freshman and 29 as a sophomore.

Will Manny (2010-13) was the last to reach 75 points as an underclassmen wearing the Maroon and White. Manny totaled 90 over his freshman and sophomore campaigns combined.

Hegarty Makes Impact Felt On Attack
One year removed from recording two points on as many goals in 10 games played, now-sophomore attackman Brendan Hegarty is tied for third on the squad with 21 points via 16 goals and five assists as a starter in all 12 games.

In addition to his impact in the points column, Hegarty has 19 groundballs and seven caused turnovers as a sophomore after he only had one groundball and did not record a caused turnover as a freshman.
