CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - After a scoreless first period, #3 Boston College netted six in the second to skate past Massachusetts, 7-0, in Hockey East action on Tuesday night at Kelley Rink. The loss leaves the Minutemen at 4-2-1 on the season (0-1-1 in Hockey East), while the Eagles improve to 6-1-0 on the year and 1-0-0 in league action.

Less than two minutes into the second period, Boston College opened the scoring as Adam Gilmour drove to the net on a 2-on-1 and put the puck home. Then at the 6:45 mark, Travis Jeke tapped in a wraparound feed from Chris Brown and JD Dudek for the Eagles’ second tally.

BC went on to break the game open with three goals in a span of 3 minutes, 16 seconds to chase UMass goaltender Nic Renyard.

After an array of penalties that occurred 11:45 into the stanza, the Eagles netted a power-play goal with Teddy Doherty tipping the puck past Alex Wakaluk at the 15:10 mark of the second.

Boston College added one more in the third period, Doherty’s second of the night, to cap off the scoring.

The Eagles finished the night with a 33-26 shot advantage and went 2-for-5 on the power play, while UMass was 0-for-4. Renyard totaled 21 saves for the Minutemen and Wakaluk stopped five. Thatcher Demko turned aside 26 in his fourth shutout of the season for the Eagles.
