Massachusetts Hockey In The Pros: 2015-16 Update #1

AMHERST, Mass. - Massachusetts hockey has 27 alumni currently playing professionally around the globe in eight different countries including three former Minutemen in the NHL, eight in the AHL and seven in the ECHL. Here are a few highlights of recent performances by UMass hockey alums:
Justin Braun (San Jose, NHL)
Has played in all 14 games thus far for San Jose, recording an assist against Columbus on November, 3rd… Upcoming games: 11/10 (Tue.) vs. New York Islanders, 11/13 (Fri.) at Detroit, 11/14 (Sat.) at Buffalo, 11/17 (Tue.) at Boston (and former Minutemen Frank Vatrano), 11/19 (Thu.) at Philadelphia.
Jonathan Quick (Los Angeles, NHL)
Snapped two game losing streak last game vs. Florida recording 18 shots and a .947 save percentage … Ranks third in win total with seven wins … Stopped 31 of 34 shots faced on 10/31 vs. Nashville getting his sixth win of the season … Upcoming games: 11/10 (Tue.) vs. Arizona, 11/12 (Thu.) vs. New York Islanders, 11/14 (Sat.) vs. Edmonton, 11/17 (Tue.) at Philadelphia, 11/20 (Fri.) at Detroit.
Frank Vatrano (Boston, NHL)
Recently called up from AHL, Providence Bruins to Boston, NHL … Played first NHL game 11/07 in Montreal where he registered his first NHL goal … Maintained roster spot the following night at New York Islanders … Upcoming games: 11/12 (Thu.) vs. Colorado, 11/14 (Sat.) vs. Detroit, 11/17 (Tue.) vs. San Jose (and former Minutemen Justin Braun), 11/19 (Thu.) vs. Minnesota, 11/21 (Sat.) vs. Toronto.
Joel Hanley (St. John’s, AHL)
Has played in 11 of 14 possible games this season registering four points (1g, 3a) … Helped the IceCaps earn the third place spot so far in the divisional standings … Upcoming games: 11/13 (Fri.) vs. Toronto, 11/14 (Sat.) vs. Toronto, 11/20 (Fri.) vs. Syracuse, 11/21 (Sat.) vs. Syracuse, 11/27 (Fri.) at Rochester.
Brandon Montour (San Diego, AHL)
Has played in all 10 games so far this season … Ranks third among his team in overall points (8 pts.) and first in assists (7a) … Tied for fourth in points among Defensemen in AHL … Upcoming games: 11/11 (Wed.) vs. Bakersfield, 11/13 (Fri.) vs. San Jose, 11/14 (Sat.) vs. San Jose, 11/18 (Wed.) at Stockton, 11/20 (Fri.) at Grand Rapids.
Michael Pereira (Reading, ECHL)
