AMHERST, Mass. - Former UMass hockey defenseman Conor Allen has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack by the New York Rangers, the organization announced on Friday night. With his addition to the Rangers' roster, Allen could make his NHL debut in the squad's next game, on Sunday on the road against the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7 p.m.

After signing with New York last spring, Allen attended the Rangers' preseason camp this past fall before being assigned to Hartford. He has 13 points (5g, 8a) in 29 games with the Wolf Pack in his rookie campaign to lead the squad's defensemen in goals, while ranking third among Hartford's blueliners in points.

Allen has seven points in his last seven games with the Wolf Pack (2g, 5a) and recently posted a two-point effort in a 3-1 win over Bridgeport.

The Chicago, Ill., native appeared in 99 games over his three years in a UMass uniform and totaled 39 points on 14 goals and 25 assists, including a career-high 19 points in 2012-13.

Nine former Minutemen have played in the NHL, all within the past decade. Five UMass hockey alumni have seen action in at least one NHL game thus far in 2013-14: Justin Braun, Matt Irwin, Michael Kostka, Jonathan Quick and Casey Wellman.
