Jackie Lyons Earns All-American, All-Region Lacrosse Honors

AMHERST, Mass. - Coming off an outstanding junior campaign, women's lacrosse midfielder Jackie Lyons has earned All-America and All-Region postseason accolades. The leading scorer for the Minutewomen was named to the WomensLacrosse.com All-America Third Team and the IWLCA All-North Region First Team.
Lyons, the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, led UMass with 49 goals and 20 assists in 20 games. She also netted 4 game-winning goals, 27 groundballs, 23 draw controls, and 8 caused turnovers. Her play helped UMass capture its second straight A-10 Championship Tournament title to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament Play-In Game before falling at Stanford to end the season.
For her career, the native of Rocky Point, N.Y., has 102 goals, 51 assists and 153 points in 57 games played. She also has 64 groundballs, 74 draw controls, 28 caused turnovers and 11 game-winning goals.
In just three years, Lyons has made her mark on the women's lacrosse record book. She ranks 7th all-time in career points, 7th in goals, 5th in assists, and 10th in games started. With 102 career goals, she is just the 8th player in program history to eclipse the century mark.
The 2010 season also placed Lyons on several Single Season record lists at UMass. Her 49 goals were the 3rd most for a single season, while her 69 points were 4th most. Her 20 assists also ranked 10th.
Lyons' selection to the WomensLacrosse.com All-America Team and the IWLCA All-Region Team were the first such honors in her career. She earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors for the third time in her career and was named the A-10 Championship Tournament MVP for the second straight year in 2010. Additionally, she holds the distinction of being the first ever UMass player to be named the league's Offensive Player of the Year.
