Third Annual Softball FanFest On May 8

AMHERST, Mass. - The nationally-ranked University of Massachusetts softball team will host the Third Annual FanFest, on Saturday, May 8th, when the Minutewomen host Atlantic 10 rival Temple on Senior Day 2010.
The action begins at noon at the UMass Softball Complex. The UMass softball team, winners of 21 Atlantic 10 Championships, features pitcher Sara Plourde, the nation's leader in strikeouts who has already thrown five no-hitters this season, as well as 2009 All-American centerfielder Carly Normandin.
Each of the last two years, this event has set single-game attendance records for the UMass program, and Hall of Fame head coach Elaine Sortino knows how much it means to the team. "FanFest is always one of the greatest highlights of the UMass Softball season,"Sortino said. "We are looking forward to a great day with our very loyal fans. Go UMass!"
The Third Annual FanFest includes the famous Fun Zone with a speed pitch and tons of great giveaways. Bertera Subaru has put up a brand new, 2010 Subaru Impreza, that one lucky fan will walk away with if the Minutewomen hit back-to-back-to-back home runs against the Owls. Fans also have a chance to win a brand new gas barbeque, courtesy of Lowe's, or one of dozens of other great prizes.
Groups purchasing 10 or more tickets will also get access to an exclusive post-game picnic and autograph session with the UMass softball team, with free pizza and drinks provided by Papa Gino's and Coca-Cola. All group members will also receive a souvenir wristband, and an exclusive UMass Softball Fan Fest team picture autograph booklet. Other event sponsors include: Papa Ginos, Coca-Cola, The Bunt Down Bat, Spare Time Bowling, Bertera Subaru, Blair, Cutting & Smith Insurance, Lowe's of Hadley, WRNX and Tiger Press.
