BOSTON, Mass. - Three Minutemen lacrosse alums will vie for a Major League Lacrosse title on August 23-24 at Harvard Stadium in Boston. Jack Reid ('06) and Jeff Zywicki ('05) bring the top-seeded Rochester Rattlers into town with a 9-3 record. They face two-time defending champion Philadelphia in the semifinals at 12 p.m. on the 23rd. Meanwhile, Bill Edell ('93), an assistant coach for Western Conference Champion Denver, leads the Outlaws into a clash vs. the Los Angeles Riptide following that game (at approximately 3 p.m.). The winners play the following afternoon at 1 p.m. in the NB Zip MLL Championship Game, a contest that will air live on ESPN2.
Reid and Zywicki had tremendous years in leading the Rattlers' to their second-straight 9-3 record and Eastern Conference Title. Zywicki finished the regular season fifth in the league with 45 points on 31 goals and 14 assists while Reid picked up three points on a goal and two helpers. He also racked up 20.5 penalty minutes which was tops in the league; his 39 groundballs were good for 22nd.
The Outlaws are no stranger to Harvard Stadium as Edell's squad fell to the Boston Cannons in the regular-season finale on Aug. 9 by a 20-14 final.

EXCERPT FROM MAJOR LEAGUE LACROSSE RELEASE
Coincidently, these are the same four teams which competed for the League Championship last season. In 2007, the Rattlers, Outlaws, Barrage, and Riptide all advanced to NB ZIP MLL Championship Weekend at Rochester's PAETEC Park. The Barrage won their third MLL title, defeating the Riptide by a score of 16-13 in the Championship Game. Philadelphia midfielder Matt Striebel was named Championship Weekend Bud Light MVP. Striebel tallied five goals and four assists over the course of the weekend. It was Philadelphia's second title in as many years.
Tickets for the 2008 NB ZIP Championship Weekend are still available and can be purchased by calling the Cannons ticket office at 617-202-0240 or by visiting the Cannons' website at www.bostoncannons.com.
