Hockey East Quarterfinals * Game 1 * Best Of Three Series
• Friday night was the sixth meeting between UMass and New Hampshire in the Hockey East Tournament with the Wildcats now holding a 5-1 record over the Minutemen. This was just the third meeting between the two clubs in the quarterfinal round of the tournament.
• UMass is now 8-17 in Hockey East Tournament games.
• The loss snapped UMass' three game win streak. UMass is now 3-1 in the month of March.
• UMass is now 7-9-1 against ranked teams this season including a 4-3-1 record against teams in the top 10 nationally.
• UMass falls to 0-12-4 when scoring fewer than three goals in a game.
• UMass is now 9-7-1 when scoring first in games this season.
• UMass was strong on face offs in the game winning 36-of-56. Cory Quirk led the team going 14-of-18 on face offs.
• David Leaderer played in his 148th career game at UMass which is a program best. He set the school record originally at Merrimack on March 8.
• Will Ortiz scored the opening goal of the game just 2:28 into the first period. It was his first goal since Nov. 20 against Vermont - a span of 18 games.
