#11 Yale Gets Past Women's Lacrosse, 10-3

AMHERST, Mass. - Using a six-goal run bridging the first and second halves, No. 11 Yale defeated the UMass women's lacrosse team 10-3 on Wednesday afternoon at McGuirk Stadium. UMass scored the game's opening goal before Yale closed out the first half with a three goal run. Yale then started the second half with another three goals before the Minutewomen could score again. UMass will return to action on Sunday at No. 1 Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. The opening draw is set for 2 p.m.
The Minutewomen received each of its goals from three different players. Kaytlin McCormick scored her team-leading 13th goal of the season to start the game. Julie Pasquantonio added a goal mid-way through the second half and Jill Liposky tallied her first career goal to close out the game's scoring.
Yale was led by Kat Peetz, Lauren Taylor, and Meredith Callahan who each had four-point games with two goals and two assists. Ellen Cameron started in cage for the Bulldogs and made eight saves.
Both teams managed 17 shots in the game. Yale held the advantage in groundballs 14-to-8.
The Bulldogs took a 3-1 lead into intermission after a first half that saw each team hold the ball on long offensive possessions.
After a three-goal run to start the second half for Yale, Pasquantonio scored for UMass with 15:59 remaining to make the score 6-2.
A four-goal unanswered streak by Yale pushed the lead to 10-2 before Liposky closed the scoring with a free-position shot with 24 seconds remaining.
Taylor and Callahan scored both their goals in the second half giving the Bulldog offense a lift after a slow first half.
Colleen Speth made the start in net for UMass making four saves.
