UMass Lacrosse Holds 2007 Team Banquet

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass men's lacrosse team held its annual team banquet on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center. Head Coach Greg Cannella honored the Minutemen with team awards at what is always an emotional event where the senior class is saluted.
Honorable Mention All-American Brett Garber was named the team's Offensive MVP with 26 goals and 32 points. Brian Danvers was awarded the Defensive MVP after being a key close defenseman.
Bobby Hayes was honored with the Rookie of the Year after his big season with 12 points on eight goals and four assists along with winning 51 percent of his face-offs.
Tim Balise was given the Most Improved Award after going from one goal as a freshman to 15 in 2007.
Dan Whipple was honored with the Goose Garber Award as the ultimate teammate and contributor to UMass lacrosse. He led the team in groundballs with 52.
Brian Jacovina received the Eric Sopracasa Award for heart and soul. The do-it-all Jacovina had 24 points including a team-best 18 assists as a senior.
Finally, David Von Voigt was given the Hammer Award for harest hits.
