UMass (0-1-0) at #13 Clarkson (1-1-0)
• Saturday night was the fifth meeting between the two teams with UMass now holding a 3-1-1 lead ... this was the second time UMass has opened its season against Clarkson - also on Oct. 9, 2004 in Amherst - a 6-4 UMass win.
• UMass is now 37-37-2 in season opening games.
• Head coach Don "Toot" Cahoon is now 8-19-2 in his coaching career against Clarkson ... in his career at UMass (8th year) he is now 101-132-22 ... in his overall career (21st year) he is 281-301-58.
• Saturday was the third overtime game of the series with UMass 1-1-1 in those games ... UMass is now 25-42-68 in overtime games.
• The line of P.J. Fenton, Cory Quirk, and Chris Davis started at the forward positions. Martin Nolet and captain Michael Kostka started on defense, while freshman Paul Dainton made his first career start in the crease.
• UMass debuted its new road uniforms by Adidas - Maroon tops with white and gray trim and gray pants with maroon trim.
• UMass is now 34-158-16 against ranked opponents with a 14-77-7 road record in those games.
• UMass is now 31-60-4 all-time against ECAC teams.
• UMass is now 483-673-70 in 76 years of intercollegiate hockey.
• Fenton, Kostka and David Leaderer are the three current Minutemen who have played in over 100 career games. Fenton has now played in 113 games, Kostka has played in 108, while Leaderer leads the team with 114 games.
• Cory Quirk now has 21 goals, 24 assists and 45 points including 1 goal and 2 assists in four games against Clarkson.
• Justin Braun scored his fifth collegiate goal giving the defenseman 15 career points (5g, 10a) - this was his first career goal and point against Clarkson (3 games played).
• Paul Dainton, Chase Langeraap, Michael Lecomte and James Marcou each made their collegiate debuts at Clarkson.
