Gabe Winer Signs With The Springfield Falcons

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning, announced Tuesday that they have signed goaltender Gabe Winer to an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO).
Winer recently finished his collegiate career with the University of Massachusetts. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Stoughton, Mass. native posted a 2.48 goals against average and a .920 save percetange in 23 games this year with the Minutemen, finishing with a 9-11-1 record. Since finishing the season with UMass, Winer played in seven games with the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL. He earned a 3.66 goals against average and a .910 save percentage during his 2-2-1 season with the Chiefs.
In Winer's four seasons with the Minutemen, he finished his collegiate career with a record of 50-52-10, including five shutouts. He posted a 2.71 goals against average and a .891 save percentage overall, and holds numerous career and season records at UMass. Winer was named the CCM/Hockey East Player of the Week on November 15, 2004, was selected as the Hockey East Goalie of the Month in January 2004 and was named to the Hockey East Honor Roll eight times throughout the 2003-04 season. During his freshman season at UMass, he was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week twice and Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week once.
