Syracuse Knocks Off Minutemen, 17-10

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse team fell behind 6-2 after one quarter and fell to No. 4-ranked Syracuse, 17-10, on Senior Day at the Carrier Dome on Saturday. Michael Powell led the Orangemen with six goals and an assist as UMass drops to 6-7 overall.
Freshmen led the way for the Minutemen as Brett Garber (Avon, Conn.) led UMass with a career-best four points on a career-high three goals and one assist. Matt Tundo (Orchard Park, N.Y.) added a hat trick and Brian Jacovina (Hicksville, N.Y.) tallied one goal. Chris Doyle (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) netted two goals and Ryan Connolly (North Andover, Mass.) tallied a goal and an assist. Sean Morris (Marshfield, Mass.) led UMass with two assists. Bill Schell (Mahopac, N.Y.) stopped 11 shots before Scott Hinchey (Glastonbury, Conn.) stopped one shot in just over nine minutes of action.
UMass will host Rutgers next Saturday at Garber Field for Senior Day. Face-off is slated for 1:00 on May 8.
