AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts junior shortstop Hilary Puglia (Stoneham, Mass.) was named the ECAC Player of the Week today. Puglia batted .500 with two home runs and 10 RBI last week helping the Minutewomen (22-11) extend their winning streak to 15 straight games overall and 64 in a row at home.

Puglia, who was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week yesterday, batted .500 (6-12) in four UMass wins last week. She began the week by going 3-4 with two runs scored, a double, a home run and four RBI in a 11-6 win at Boston University (April 12). She followed that up by batting 2-3 with two runs scored and a two stolen bases in a 4-0 win over Boston College (April 15). Puglia then hit a grand slam and had five RBI in a doubleheader sweep over St. Bonaventure (April 18). For the week, Puglia scored six runs, drove in 10, posted a 1.083 slugging percentage and had a .600 on-base percentage. She has now reached base safely in 17 straight games, recording at least one hit in 15 of those contests. Puglia leads the team with a .340 batting average. She has seven doubles, two triples, two home runs, 23 RBI, a .534 slugging percentage and is 7-for-11 (.636) in stolen base opportunities.

Massachusetts will put its 15-game winning streak on the line tomorrow at UConn. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m. down in Storrs. The Minutewomen will then return home to face Maine on Friday for a doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. This is a make-up from the April 1 game that was rained out.
