AMHERST, Mass. - Former University of Massachusetts softball pitcher and current assistant coach Kaila Holtz will continue trying out for the Canadian National Team next month as it heads to the Northwest for a week of exhibition play. Holtz is competing for a roster spot on the team which will represent Canada at this summer's Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

The Canadians went 9-0 earlier this month on their tour through California. Holtz appeared in five games and had a 3-0 record. She gave up seven hits and three earned runs in 16.1 innings while walking 11 and striking out 13 batters.

Next week, Canada will head to the Pacific Northwest to compete against the University of Oregon, Portland State and the University of Washington. They will also participate in a Central Washington Tournament

After the tour through Washington and Oregon, the team will travel to New Zealand and Australia for a series of exhibition and tournament games from April 1-17. The coaching staff and National Team committee will use evaluations at these events to confirm the final roster spots, which will be named in late April.
