AMHERST, Mass. - UMass men's lacrosse players Chris Doyle (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) and Ryan Connolly (North Andover, Mass.) were named to the 17-member ECAC All-Academic Team released today by the ECAC office. It is the first time the sophomores have been named to the squad.
Doyle, an attack, played in all 16 games, starting every one of them. He was fifth on the team in scoring with 23 points (19 g, 4 a), and his 19 goals were fourth on the squad. He scored hat tricks in UMass' win over Syracuse and the NCAA Quarterfinals loss to Maryland, and tallied points in all but two games on the season. In the classroom, Doyle sported a 3.50 GPA with an undecided major during the spring semester.
Connolly, also a sophomore attack, played in all 16 games, scoring 11 points (10 g, 1 a) on the season. He netted his first career hat trick in an 18-6 win over Brown on March 15, and had a three-game stretch where he tallied seven goals from March 15-21. Connolly is a history major and boasts a 3.60 cumulative GPA.
