UMass Soccer Announces Spring Schedule

AMHERST, Mass.- The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team opens its spring portion of the schedule on Saturday, March 29, with a 1:00 p.m. game at Boston University. It will be the first of 12 games scheduled in the spring for the defending Atlantic 10 Champions.
Ten of the 12 games the Minutemen play will be played in Amherst. After Saturday's opener against Boston University, UMass will play Atlantic 10 rival Rhode Island after the meeting with the Terriers. The Minutemen will return home for two games on Saturday, April 5, against Providence and the Western Mass. Pioneers at 11:00 a.m. at the Lower Boyden fields. On Saturday, April 12, UMass battles Vermont, Fairfield and Brown, starting at 11:00 a.m. After an intrasquad scrimmage on Thursday, April 17, the Minutemen will face their toughest competition of the spring. On April 27, Head Coach Sam Koch's club takes on North Carolina in the inaugural Soccer Showdown, part of the New Balance Soccer Fest at Rudd Field at 12:30 p.m. The 2001 National Champions finished last season 14-7-1 and advanced to the NCAA second round, where it lost to Penn State in double-overtime.
UMass concludes its spring schedule with a tripleheader on May 3. The Minutemen battle regional rivals Northeastern, UMass Lowell and Dartmouth, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The Minutemen are coming off a 12-6-2 record and a Atlantic 10 regular-season title.
