NHL Central Scouting Releases Final Rankings

University of Massachusetts sophomore defenseman Nick Kuiper (Beaconsfield, Quebec) and freshman forward Greg Mauldin (Holliston, Mass.) are both inlcuded on the Central Scouting Service's final rankings for the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The draft is scheduled for June 22-23, 2002, at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
Mauldin is ranked 169th out of North American skaters, while Kuiper is ranked 171st. They are both projected as sixth round draft picks, however, the list does not included European players or goaltenders.
Mauldin became the first freshman to lead Massachusetts in scoring since Rob Bonneau and Warren Norris tied for the team lead in 1993-94. Mauldin scored 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points. He also led the team in shots (111), shorthanded goals (2) and Hockey East points (16).
Kuiper played in 32 games this season and led all Minuteman defensemen in scoring with 11 points. He scored two goals and had nine assists and took 44 shots.
