SATURDAY'S GAME WITH HARTFORD
Massachusetts enters the game with a 5-1 overall record, while Hartford enters the game with a 2-2 overall record. This is just the fourth all-time meeting between the two schools. The Minutemen lead the series 3-0. The last time the two teams met was in 1998 with the Minutemen defeating the Hawks, 18-7. Massachusetts has won five straight since dropping the season-opener to Hofstra. The Minutemen are coming off a 16-6 victory over the University at Albany this past Tuesday in Troy, N.Y.

SCOUTING THE HARTFORD HAWKS
Hartford is coming off a 15-4 loss at Brown this past Tuesday on the road. The Hawks opened the season with a 21-10 victory over Marist before falling to Harvard, 11-7. They rebounded with a 9-8 America East victory over Stony Brook before falling to Brown earlier this week. The offense is led by senior Brian LaMastro (11g, 3a), junior Travis Eckler (4g, 5a), senior Tyler Francey (4g, 4a), junior Mike Gillis (4g, 4a) and senior Jamell Vanterpool (3g, 4a). The defense is anchored by junior Rorke Greene who has started all four games this season. He has a 10.49 goals against average and a .606 save percentage. Gillis handles a majority of the faceoffs and has won an impressive 42 of 46. The Hawks are nine for 23 on extra-man opportunities this season.

DOUBLE DIGITS IN SCORING
Six different Massachusetts players have already reached double digits in scoring this season. Leading the way is senior Marc Morley (Canton, N.Y.), who has 22 points on 12 goals and a team-high 10 assists. He is followed closely by senior Dan Paccione (Amittyville, N.Y.) with 19 points on a team-high 14 goals and five assists. Follwing Paccione is junior Kevin Leveille (Delmar, N.Y.) with 17 points, junior Chris Fiore (Freeport, N.Y.) has 12 points, freshman Gene Tundo (Orachard Park, N.Y.) with 11 points and sophomore Jeff Zywicki (Nepean, Ontario) has 10 points.

PACCIONE SETS NEW CAREER HIGH
Senior attackman Dan Paccione has already set a new career-high in goals just six games into the season. He currently leads the Minutemen in goals with 14. He also has five assists and is second on the team in ground balls with 24. His previous high in goals was 13 last season. Paccione has three hat tricks this season, having scored three goals against Hofstra and then four goals against Navy and Vermont. He had a goal and a career-high three assists against Albany on Tuesday.

MODELS OF CONSISTENCY
Seniors Dan Paccione and Mark Morley, along with junior Kevin Leveille have scored at least one point in all six games. Morley's lowest point total in a game this season has been three, while Paccione and Leveille's lowest totals have been two. They are the three top scorers on the team.

THE LAST TIME OUT FOR THE MINUTEMEN
Senior Marc Morley scored four goals to lead Massachusetts to a 16-6 victory over Albany Tuesday. Ten different Minutemen scored goals in the game as No. 11 Massachusetts improved to 5-1 overall on the season. The Minutemen took control of the game early, scoring the first five goals. Senior Dan Paccione scored the first goal just 37 seconds into the game. He assisted junior Kevin Leveille and sophomore Neil Lundberg (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) on the next two scores. Sophomore Kevin Glenz (Merrick, N.Y.) and junior Chris Fiore scored to give the Minutemen a 5-0 lead. Following two straight Albany goals, Morley netted two goals in 14 seconds with the second goal coming with just two seconds remaining in the quarter. Massachusetts extended its lead to 12-4 at halftime with second period goals from senior Don Little (Clifton Park, N.Y.), Morley, freshman Craig Conn (St. Catherines, Ontario), Fiore and Lundberg and two more from Morley. The lone score in the third quarter was Morley's fourth goal of the game, and it came with 53 seconds remaining. The Minutemen outscored the Great Danes, 3-2, in the fourth to secure the 16-6 non-conference victory. Freshman Gene Tundo, senior Dusty Smith (West Chester, Pa.) and Glenz had the Massachusetts goals. Paccione and Conn each finished the game with a goal and three assists. Freshman goaltender Bill Schell (Mahopac, N.Y.) played the first 55 minutes of the game and made 10 saves while allowing six goals. It was his first career start. Junior Derek Kunkel (Centereach, N.Y.) replaced Schell in the cage and made two saves and did not allow a goal.

FRESHMEN MAKING AN IMPACT
A number of freshmen have made an immediate impact for the Minutemen this season. Attackman Gene Tundo leads the class with five goals and six assists. Attackman Craig Conn is in second with two goals and three assists. Goaltender Bill Schell started against Albany and made 10 saves. Midfielder Greg Scott (Westport, Conn.) and defenseman Matt Garcia (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) have each played in all six games this season.

IN CASE YOU DID NOT KNOW . . .
Head coach Greg Cannella enters the game with a 57-41 (.582) record. He is in his eighth season at the helm of the Massachusetts program. Cannella graduated from Massachusetts in the sping of 1988... Last season Massachusetts finished in the top 10 in every team statistic the NCAA keeps. The Minutemen led the nation in man-down defense (.863) and scoring margin (7.14), finished second in scoring offense (14.86), third in faceoff winning percentage (.624), fourth in man-up offense (.404), fourth in winning percentage (.857) and sixth in scoring defense (7.71).
