AMHERST, Mass. - UMass hockey player Thomas P?ck (Klagenfurt, Austria) was named Hockey East KOHO? Co-Player of the Week announced Monday. It is the second time that P?ck has won the award, also gaining top honors on Nov. 18. A UMass player has now won a weekly award for a remarkable sixth time in the last seven weeks. The seven weekly awards won this year also ties the school record for most Hockey East awards won in a season.
P?ck, a junior defenseman, scored a career-high two goals in UMass' 4-3 overtime win over Princeton on Dec. 12. P?ck scored the first goal of the game, then ended the contest with an overtime goal at the 2:37 mark. P?ck's overtime goal came after he controlled the puck for about 20 seconds in the Princeton zone. P?ck is fourth on the team in scoring with 15 points (6 g, 9 a) and leads all Hockey East defensemen. The 15 points rank him sixth in the country among defensemen.
The Minutemen enter the holiday break with a 10-6-0 overall mark and 4-5-0 in the Hockey East Conference. UMass will travel to Estero, Fla., on Dec. 28-29 for one of the premier college hockey holiday tournaments. UMass will play 12th-ranked Ohio State at 4:05 p.m. in the semifinals of the Everblades College Classic on Dec. 28. The other semifinal pits top-ranked Maine and No. 4-ranked Cornell.
