RICHMOND, Va.- Senior Jeff Deren (Chicopee, Mass.) and junior Ptah Myers (Columbus, Ohio) were selected to the Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer All-Championship Team announced Sunday.
Deren scored all three of UMass' goals in its 4-3 overtime loss to George Washington in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament. The hat trick was Deren's second of the season and boosted his school-record single-season goal total to 22. The total enabled Deren to become the first player in school history to score over 50 points in a season with 51 (22 g, 7 a). Deren, barring a possible at-large NCAA Tournament berth, ended his career with a school-record 113 points (48 g, 17 a).
Myers tallied an assist in the loss to George Washington. The assist gave him 23 points (8 g, 7 a) for the season, and pushed his career total to 49 points (18 g, 13 a). Myers, barring injury, is almost guaranteed to enter the school's top ten in career scoring. He needs 11 points to reach the top ten.
The Minutemen sit at 12-6-2 overall and finished the season as the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season champions with an 8-1-2 record. The Minutemen await word on a possible at-large NCAA Tournament berth announced today (Monday).
