AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team will not host its annual soccer tournament this weekend, head coach Sam Koch announced Thursday. However, the Minutemen will play Hartford on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

The Minuteman soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Hartford on Sept. 5. The Hawks, 3-1 on the season, were scheduled to play San Francisco in the second game of the UMass Classic on Friday.

"The University of San Francisco was scheduled to fly into Boston (on Wednesday)," Koch said. "We certainly understand and respect the fact that they will not be able to travel this weekend."

A second schedule change for the Minutemen involves Siena, another team that was slated to participate in the UMass Classic. UMass will now host Siena on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 3:00 p.m. That match will now open a five-match homestand for the Minutemen.

Siena's conference, the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference, made the decision to postpone all intercollegiate contests scheduled to take place this weekend.

"Certainly our hearts and prayers are with all those who have suffered from this terrible attack," Koch said. "All proceeds and donations collected at the game on Sunday will be passed along to the Red Cross to assist in their efforts in the New York and Washington, D.C. areas."

The UMass women's soccer team will be in action at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, as it hosts Binghamton. Along with both soccer squads, both cross country teams will be in action this weekend, as they compete in meets at Boston University. All other athletic action scheduled for this weekend has been postponed.
